Classic & Collector Car Insurance
Your classic car, muscle car or vintage truck isn’t your daily driver, and it shouldn’t be insured like one. Collector vehicle coverage is built around how you actually use and care for your car, often for less than a standard auto policy.
What Collector Car Coverage Can Include
Agreed Value
You and the carrier agree on the car’s value up front, so a covered total loss pays that amount instead of a depreciated value, minus any deductible.
Flexible Mileage Plans
Plans are built for limited, pleasure use. Mileage allowances vary by carrier, and some offer higher or unlimited options.
Spare Parts & Tools
Coverage for the extra parts, tools and accessories that come with owning and maintaining a classic.
Restoration Projects
Options for vehicles that are still being restored, with the value increasing as the work progresses.
Specialty Roadside & Towing
Flatbed towing and roadside help from providers who know how to handle collector vehicles.
Car Shows & Club Events
Coverage that goes with you to shows, cruises and club events.
What Qualifies as a Collector Vehicle?
Every carrier has its own guidelines, but collector programs commonly cover:
- Antique and vintage cars typically 25 years or older.
- Classic and muscle cars kept in good condition and driven for pleasure.
- Exotic and limited-production vehicles including newer collectible models.
- Vintage trucks, tractors and military vehicles with some carriers.
- Restoration projects that aren’t finished yet.
Most programs ask that the vehicle be stored in a garage or other secure building and that you have another vehicle for everyday driving.

What is agreed value coverage?
You and the insurance company agree on your car’s value when the policy starts. If the car is a covered total loss, the policy pays that agreed amount, minus any deductible, instead of a depreciated market value.
Can I drive my classic car every day?
Collector policies are designed for limited, pleasure use like shows, club events and weekend drives. If the car is your daily driver, it usually needs a standard auto policy instead.
Is collector car insurance cheaper than regular auto insurance?
Often, yes. Because collector cars are driven less and usually well cared for, specialty coverage can cost less than insuring the same car on a standard policy.
Does my car have to be fully restored?
No. Many carriers offer coverage for vehicles that are still being restored, with the value adjusted as the project progresses.
How do I prove my car’s value?
Photos, receipts for restoration work and sometimes an appraisal help establish the value. We’ll walk you through what your carrier needs.
